■ Fourth meeting with universities this year; special lecture at Korea University recruitment presentation session

■ A true global-minded talent must not only master foreign languages but also learn about foreign countries’ culture and

LSIS Chairman Koo Ja-kyun delivered a special lecture to university students preparing for jobs at the fourth annual LS
Group recruitment presentation session, repeating the mantra “Futuring.”

On the afternoon of September 17 at the LS Group recruitment presentation session at Korea University’s Hana Square 
Big Auditorium, LSIS Chairman Koo Ja-kyun spoke on the theme of commencement to some 200 soon-to-be graduates. 
This was the fourth of such session, following that at Korea University and at Yonsei University in 2012, at Seoul National University in 2013, and at Hanyang University in 2014.

Having taught at universities for over ten years, Chairman Koo spoke on the theme of commencement, which means 
graduation and simultaneous beginning, like in other years’ speeches. He hopes that soon-to-be graduates will join the 
LS Group to start off their lives.

Mr. Koo presented “Futuring,” a word that is not yet in the dictionary, as the keyword of the ideal talent sought after by 
not only LSIS but also other companies.

Koo explained that LSIS reestablished this year Futuring Smart Energy as the company’s new mission, meaning opening
the future of smart energy. Futuring is the expression of strong vow to create future leading values initiatively, he added.

“My lecture will have achieved its purpose 100% if the word “Futuring” remains in your head. I present the creative 
futuring people’s virtues as follows: actualization of imagination, shiny eye with which you look, and global mindset,” 
he said.

According to him, in today’s convergence age when the borders between industries are torn down and the convergence
and combination of different industries are taking place, there is a need for capacity to open all doors to possibilities and
turn imagination into competitiveness. He told students that their specialization in their major area is basic, and that the 
key to the futuring value is the realization of imagination, which triggers convergence with social, political, and cultural 
elements.

 “In the past, when I went to Europe on backpacking trips, I rarely met Koreans; in the recently televised Unlimited
Challenge Delivery special program, however, a French air stewardess and a foreign cafe employee, whom the Korean
character happened to meet, spoke Korean fluently, and the head security for the President of Gabon is Korean. This was 
truly surprising. In this global unbound competitive age when regional and racial borders disappear, we must study not only
foreign languages but also foreign cultures and customs to be winners,” he explained.

Lastly, citing star figure skater Kim Yu-na and current global golf star Chun In-gee among other Korea University graduates, Koo noted that they have something in common: they have sparkling bright eyes that can overwhelm the opponents. 
“Those who have eyes full of determination, passion, and confidence to tackle any challenge, rather than large, pretty 
eyes, can become leaders of the world,” he stressed.

Ahead of this special lecture by the chairman, LSIS took time to communicate with university students as President Han 
Jae-hun , Personnel Affairs Managing Director Park Hae-ryong , and other executives delivered special lectures at the LS 
Group recruitment presentation sessions at ChoongAng University (September 15th) and Yonsei University (September 14th).
