LS Group’s industrial machinery and advanced parts manufacturer LS Mtron (CEO Jae-ho Shin) announced on August 28 that it had been recognized for its reputation as a leader in domestic autonomous tractor technology and signed an MOU with the Korea Racing Authority to implement and develop autonomous tractors for worksites in the horse industry.

The event was held at the Korea Racing Authority Jeju Farm, and there were 15 attendees at the event including the Korea Racing Authority’s Jeju HQ Director Yoon-yeong Moon, Jeju Farm Director Jeong-jin Park, and LS Mtron Tractor Business HQ Director Sang-min Lee.

Through this MOU, LS Mtron and the Korea Racing Authority have agreed to mutually cooperate in further advancing the autonomous tractor technology ofboth parties and jointly developing autonomous tractors optimized for the horse industry, and to form a consultative organization for mutual exchange and sharing of opinions and information related to autonomous tractors.

LS Mtron is expected to play a leading role in the industry as it applies smart agriculture in the horse industry through its autonomous tractors. The Korea Racing Authority’s Jeju Farm, spread across an area of approximately 650,000 pyeong, will serve as a test bed for the development of autonomous tractors. Autonomous tractors will be developed to provide a complete set of autonomous pasture management functions including fertilization, stone removal, mowing, and sowing.
